The exhibition ARTIVISM (11.7.–9.8.2014) shows a political engaged and international artist. Tamara Moyzes produces video art, which is often presented in installation form. She is a political personality and is concerned with themes such as gender, racism, antiziganism, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and – as a curator – with Orientalism as well. Her works show a commitment to artistic activism, and she believes that art is a form of pointed protest that should unmask social conditions – not through academic statements, but instead through direct artistic interventions. With the resources of satire and the intensification of lived experience, Moyzes sheds light on social injustice. By virtue of her origins and her life at various locations, Tamara Moyzes works from the perspective of the intersection of minorities, for example of the Jews or of the Roma. In this way, she underscores the urgency of the material she presents to her audience, much of it difficult to absorb. In ihrer Ausstellung ARTIVISM (11.7.–9.8.2014) präsentiert sich Tamara Moyzes als politisch engagierte und international tätige Künstlerin, die in ihrer Arbeit Missstände aufdeckt und mit intelligenten Interventionen zu einer weniger gewalttätigen Welt inspirieren will. Sie nutzt dazu medienübergreifende künstlerische Mittel und schafft, zum Teil in Anlehnung an Vorgänger wie die Black Panther Bewegung zum Teil aber auch genuin neuen, künstlerischen Aktivismus. Ihre unterschiedlichen in der Ausstellung präsentierten Aktionen, sind aber nicht nur durch ihre Person miteinander verbunden. Sie alle eint der in ihrer kritischen Weltsicht geborgene Glaube an die Möglichkeit einer besseren Welt. Tamara Moyzes ist Vorreiterin und Teil einer neuen Kunstrichtung, des „Artivismus“, der künstlerische Praxis mit politischer Aktion verbindet und der in den letzten Jahren zum Beispiel im Zusammenhang mit den Veränderungen im Nahen Osten, in Tunesien und Ägypten, seinen machtvollen Einfluss gezeigt hat. text by Moritz Pankok |
